Dark toasted oak chips will allow you to imitate storing your wine in an oak barrel without the expense. Adding oak chips to your wine will increase it's complexity. We recommend mainly using these dark chips for big red wines. They will add a deep caramelized oak flavor to your wine and may also be used in conjunction with medium toast chips. To use just boil the chips in water for 10 minutes and then drain and place the chips in your plastic or glass fermenter before transferring.
