The Acid Test Kit consists of a syringe, sodium hydroxide and phenophalein solution, used to determine the acid level of a wine must. All wine kits have predetermined (always lower than their commercial counterparts) acid levels to ensure faster aging and product consistency. Acid titration allows the amateur winemaker to adjust (increase) the starting acid levels for longer term aging of wine.

The Acid Test Kit contains:
Sodium Hydroxide 120mL (4 fl.oz.)
Indicator Solution 15mL (0.5 fl. oz.)
Reusable Plastic Syring 10cc (0.3 fl.oz)
Reusable Test Container 30cc (0.9 fl.oz.)

Acidity provides the crisp, slightly tart taste of wine on your palate. Too little acid, and your wine tastes flabby and non-committal. Too much acid, and your taste buds scream for relief. When acids are properly countered by the other ingredients in wine (such as alcohol, sugars, trace minerals, etc.), the wine is said to be "in balance", which is the desired end result of all winemakers.
